👂 0:27   [![test + free lesson](https://hubspot-no-cache-eu1-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/cta/default/144185739/interactive-185741846769.png)](https://blog.soyguiri.com/hs/cta/wi/redirect?encryptedPayload=AVxigLLFAmxeH%2F6OtOkjlLNgCjGUXV9RzPdR%2BmfxJ9VX2jgG4LbxPZ%2BzK6%2ByeFGclfeQGxTOnP38uqCQeQFdjRNEWcXbVT1U%2BQHNE61GsjU6PPNAIQxegZVZsmMFFO8Vx3OkNZ%2BFAkd%2FxABd8Q69gboa219zanf99j%2B1o9H3V2tHCREQ9iiznqtY%2Fs3IUQdAeQ390XR%2FYLIGwJydclwlYBnJ&webInteractiveContentId=185741846769&portalId=144185739) ## 🇬🇧 **Translation** *In the small village of Benarrabá, in Málaga, **digital nomads** are changing local life. This **village**, with around 500 **inhabitants**, is in a **rural area** where there was little activity before. In recent years, several people who work online have decided to **move** there in search of peace and a better quality of life. Thanks to the internet, they can work from anywhere without needing to live in a city.* *To support this new way of life, a **coworking space** with **high-speed internet** has been created. This place allows new residents to work comfortably and also meet other people. In addition, digital nomads take part in **local life**: they shop in **local stores**, go to **bars**, and talk to their **neighbours**. This is creating more **social activity** and new opportunities in the village.* *In Spain, many villages suffer from **depopulation**, because young people move to cities. However, **remote work** is slowly changing this situation. Nowadays, a good **internet connection** is enough to work from rural areas. For this reason, digital nomads can help **revitalise** these places and improve the **local economy**, although there are still some challenges.* ## 📚 **Key vocabulary (A2–B1)** 💻 **Nómada digital** – *digital nomad* 🏡 **Pueblo** – *village* 👥 **Habitantes** – *inhabitants* 🌄 **Zona rural** – *rural area* 🚚 **Mudarse** – *to move house* 🏢 **Espacio de coworking** – *coworking space* 🌐 **Internet de alta velocidad** – *high-speed internet* 👥 **Vecinos** – *neighbours* 🛒 **Tiendas** – *shops* 🍻 **Bares** – *bars* 💬 **Vida local** – *local life* 📈 **Actividad social** – *social activity* 📉 **Despoblación** – *depopulation* 💻 **Teletrabajo** – *remote work* 📡 **Conexión a internet** – *internet connection* 🌱 **Revitalizar** – *to revitalise* 💶 **Economía local** – *local economy* 🏠 **Vivienda** – *housing* 💸 **Coste de vida** – *cost of living* 📶 **Cobertura** – *network coverage* 🌿 **Calidad de vida** – *quality of life* ## **🌄 Life in rural villages** **Rural life** in Spain is generally quieter than in cities. In **villages**, there is less noise, less traffic and a more relaxed pace of life. Many people value the **quality of life**, contact with **nature**, and the feeling of **community**. In terms of **local commerce**, villages usually have small **shops**, **bars**, bakeries and sometimes a weekly market. There are no large shopping centres, but residents buy local products and support village businesses. This creates a closer and more personal economy. Among the **advantages**, there is a lower **cost of living**, more tranquillity, and the possibility of living in a natural environment. However, there are also **drawbacks**, such as less **public transport**, fewer services (hospitals, schools) and fewer in-person job opportunities. For this reason, **remote work** and **digital nomads** can be an interesting solution. They allow people to live in a village without giving up a modern job, although it is important to have a good **internet connection** and adapt to a different lifestyle. In a TikTok video by @tomcharliedesign, we see a foreign perspective on everyday life in Spain. In the video, the creator shows a simple interaction in a Spanish **village**, highlighting the **friendliness**, **closeness**, and strong sense of **community** that can be found in rural areas. These kinds of moments are often part of daily life outside big cities. Many **digital nomads** value this aspect of Spain, not only for **remote work**, but also for the lifestyle and human connection. Spain is often associated with a high **quality of life** and warm social relationships. 👉 Watch the video here: > [@tomcharliedesign](https://www.tiktok.com/@tomcharliedesign?refer=embed) > > Digital nomads are flooding Spain in record-breaking numbers so if you want to move to Spain because of the recent introduction of the digital nomad visa, a new visa category, especially for remote workers.
