# 😎 Good or well in Spanish: 'Bueno' vs 'Bien' (and how not to mix them!)

If you’ve ever said *“Soy bien”* or *“Estoy bueno”* when learning Spanish… you’re not alone 😅  
These mistakes are legendary — and often pretty funny.

## ⭐ Is there a word for ***well*** in Spanish?

YES! The Spanish word for **well** (as an adverb) is **bien**.

👉 **bien = well**  
It describes **how** someone does something.

Examples:

😊 **Hablas español muy bien.**  
*You speak Spanish very well.*

*You’ve done it well.*

## ⭐ Does '**bueno'** mean *good* or *well*?

👉 **bueno = good** (an adjective)  
It describes **what something is like**, NOT how it is done.

Examples:

🍎 **Es un libro bueno.**  
*It’s a good book.*

🍕 **La pizza está muy buena.**  
*The pizza is very good.*

🌞 **Es un buen día.**  
*It’s a good day.*

🧑‍🏫 **Mi profesor es muy bueno.**  
*My teacher is very good.*

But **bueno** NEVER means *well*. For that, you use **bien**.

This depends entirely on what you want to describe:

✨ Talking about a person or thing → **bueno / buena** (adjective)  
✨ Talking about an action or how something is done → **bien** (adverb)

Spaniards are EXPRESSIVE. So instead of just *bueno*, you’ll hear:

😍 **maravilloso** = *wonderful*  
😎 **increíble** = *incredible*

Examples:

🔥 **La película fue buenísima.**  
*The film was amazing.*

## ⭐ *Good* or *well* in Spanish grammar (easy guide)

Here’s the rule that saves lives:

### ✔️ **BUENO** = adjective → describes nouns

(People, places, things)

Examples:

🏠 **Es una casa buena.**  
*It’s a good house.*

🧑 **Juan es bueno.**  
*Juan is a good person.*

### ✔️ **BIEN** = adverb → describes actions or states

Examples:

📚 **Juan estudia bien.**

Here are REAL examples you’ll hear daily in Spain:

*You did it very well.*

*He is a good friend.*

✔️ **La comida está muy buena.**  
*The food is very good.*

## ⭐ *Buen* vs *Bueno* — what's the difference?

Easy:

✨ B**uen** goes BEFORE a noun  
✨ **Bueno** goes AFTER a noun

Examples:

*It’s a good day.*

Sounds like *byennn*. One syllable. Very quick.

🎧 **BUENO**
